ON THE ROLL

IMPORTANT REGULATION ADDRESSES OF RESERVISTS It is important (and it is also com pulsory under the Regulations) that reservists of the First Division of the General Reserve should keep the Director of National Service, Wellington, advised of their residential addresses and any change in this respect is required to be notified (by registered letter) within seven days. Forms for the purpose may be obtained at anj r post office. When reservists are drawn in a ballot their names are published in the New Zealand Gazette and this notice is, in itself, sufficient to effect the transfer of the men concerned from the reserve to the armed forces. It is, of course, realised that many people in the Doimnion can not conveniently obtain access to the' Gazette, and therefore, it is proposed to give individual notice by registered letter. It will be seen, then, that if an3 r reservist has failed to keep the Director advised if he has changed his place of abode, his postal notification may not reach him and he will not onlybe liable to the penalties provided by the Regulations but he may also subsequently become liable to a charge of desertion. t =====
