COMMUNITY SINGING
. ; ' .Vi Sir, —I have a complain!, which I am voicing on behalf of many others, if you wilJ., be good enough to allow your valuable space. For several weeks now a community sing has been held in the King Street Hall and a good crowd has rolled along, to enjoy the sing and contribute a little towards patriotic funds at the same time. It was advised in the-Local'and General column in Wednesday's BEACON that the sing would be held • as usual and I went along, accompanied by some friends^^^ When we arrived -at we found badminton players In the centre of the floor, which had been cleared. From what I could gather they had been expecting to play a team from Te Puke but those players had not turned up. Why, then could not the' badminton people ' turn the hall over to those wanting to hold the sing? Up till now, I understand, badminton . has been held on Tuesday nights and the community sings on Wednesday nights. When a customary arrangement is broken like that there should be some forewarning as it puts many, like it put me, to some inconvenience. " Yours etc., DISAPPOINTED.
