FAREWELL DANCE
EVENT AT OTAKIRI IT PE BAND IN ATTENDANCE Despite the inclemency ol' the weather on Thursday evening there was a large attendance at the combined Patriotic and Farewell Dance held at Otakiri. The hall was gaily decorated with greenery and music wass upplied by the Gaiety Bcfys' Orchestra. An extra was contributed by members of the Rotorua Pipe Band. The" Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Berryman and partner and the Spot Foxtrot by Mr T. Gardiner and partner. Competitions were won by Mrs J. Speirs Mi,ss Ratliff, Mr D. Campbell, Mrs Clialklen and Mrs Watson. Supper was served by members of the committee and several willing helpers, after which a presentation was made by Mr W. Murray on behalf of the, Otakiri Patriotic Committee and friends, to Corporal Phil Cristall, who was home on leave. Mr O. Lord capably carried out the duties of M.C. Whiteside: Hancock, green taffeta; W. J. Murray, brown silk and georgette; W. T. Rutherford, navy blue; C. Planli, black lace; E. M. Findley (Onepu), rose striped satin; Misses M. Aston, green taffeta; M. K. Hansen, green taffeta; I. Corbett, striped taffeta; A. E. Woods; Mollie Findlay (Onepu) pink floral sheer; M. Watson, black and gold taffeta; J. Rankin., green lace; M. Hodgson (Rotorua), navy checked cloqne; Doris Murray, daffodil striped taffeta; Betty Ward (Auckland), green lace; A. E. Berry man, rust velvet; E. P. Baskett, clover georgette; I. Ratliff, cyclamen taffeta; Helen Morrell; I. Wood berry, pink embossed georgette; M. Woodberry, blue taffeta: Ailsa Woodberry, .green and silver figured satin; Valerie Steenson, figured taffeta; Z. Caulfield, mauve taffeta; J. Forbes; K. M. Campbell, green georgette; Patricia Linsell (Onepu), blue paisley; Jean Jamieson, satin bach crepe: Ivy Bryant, floral taffeta.
