THE PIPE BAND
* ~ i OPOTIKI DELIGHTED Opotiki, Mondays Seldom has Opotiki had such en- . joyable visitors as it did on Thursday, when members of the Whakatane Pipe Band came over for the day. After delighting the crowd at the parade, the Pipers sliow T ed just how energetic the Scots are by ' piping up and down the street for most of the afternoon. A braye | show they made, too» with their intriguing swinging kilts and billowing plaids. Even the fall of night did not sap their enthusiasm, for ; still they marched, and every non Scot who saw them wished he had some Scots blood in his veins, and every Scot wished he had more. Besides playing at the dance in the evening, our friends gave picture patrons a pleasant surprise, when, in the middle of the programme, the lights Avent up, and in marched the Pipers, round the theatre, and out again. As one local resident remarked, "The town isn't the same since the Pipers have gone!"
