WAIMANA NEWS
INSTITUTE BIRTHDAY The Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute held their annual birthday celebrations in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon. There was a very good attendance of members and visitors, with Mrs N. Clark presiding. The function opened with the singing of the Institute song, and IVIr E. B. Bell then read the Aspirations, which was followed by the singing of the hymn, "O, God,, Our Help in Ages Past." The stage and tables were nicely decorated, with bowls of dainty spring blossoms in pink tonings. Telegrams conveying birthday greetings Averc receiA'ed from W hal&itane and Te Kaha Women's Institutes and Mrs Davies, Opotiki. Miss Woolfield read a most interesting letter from the link in England, Kilsby W. 1.-, Rugby. A competition arranged bs r Mrs J. | L. Burnett, Knitting Avith Tooth Picks, Avas won by Mrs Robert Ward law, and a Scavenger Hunt, AA-as avou by Mrs Flint. A play entitled "TheNNeA r ly Rich" and Avritten by a member, Mrs Wylde, Snr. Avas AVell presented by members of the Drama Circle. Those taking part were Mesdames T. WardlaAV, G. Stansbury, L. Duclcer and Misses M. Wardlaw and H. Bell. Members of the Glee Club presented "The Wedding of the Painted DoJ," Avhich Avas very pretty. They also sang "Sweet and Low" and "The Oars Are 'Plashing" un« der the leadership of Mrs E. A. Bell. The singing of "God Defend NcaV Zealand" and the National Anthe.m closed a pleasant afternoon..
