WHAKATANE DEFEATED

OPOTIKI PREVAIL IN MUD-LARK The Whakatane s'exiior representatives were defeated 6-3 when they travelled to Gpotiki, to meet thati Union's team, on Saturday. The heavy rain fell on previous days and on Saturday afternoon, made conditions far from ideal but, though the game as a whole resolved itself into a mud scramble, it was good under the circumstances and proved to be quite interesting. Play Avas opened up but players found some difficulty in keeping their feet and many chances were lost as a result of slipping on the heavy and greasy ground. The attendance was considered good under prevailing weather conditions. • Further, details of both games will be published next issue.
