CONSERVATION OF PETROL
Recently a correspondent has drawn atterftion to the apparant superfluity of petrol held by certain motorists in this district. In view of the war effort now being made the Dominion over the conserve petrol this flagrant use of vehicles for long pleasure trips etc is to be deplored by every oya subject. The practice is particularly resented by those who owing to the restrictions have the.gratest difficulty m keeping their cars( pleasure vehicles) on the road at all. ¥e it cannot be denied that there are some privileged persons who, in spite of rationing, seem to have easy access to unlimited quantities of petrol and experience no qualms of conscience in parading the fact before their less f°^ nate neighbours. This is a state of affairs which wil bear the light of investigation, for to allow it to exist at a time w en petrol .means perhaps tl?e winning of the war, is unlan, patriotic and distinctly un-British.
