Early risers who are attracted by the blight planet in the eastern sky might be interested to know that the planet is plainly visible during the day. Actually the planet has been visible to the naked ej>e for some weeks, but is gradually becoming fainter as the star recedes from the earth. A month or two ago the planet was nearer to the earth than it had been for many ye^rs. Patriotic Raffles. A statement that where a raffle for patriotic purposes was for £5 or less no authority would be required from the Minister of Internal Affairs to run it, but that Ministerial approval would be required for a raffle of more than £5, was made by Mr G. A. Hayden, secretary of the National Patriotic Fund Board, in reply to a question asked of him at a public meeting in Wairoa.
