CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS WAIVE SCRUPLES Over 50 young men who registered as conscientious objectors in lid in burgh and Glasgow have announced ro the conscientious objectors' tribunals that, owing to the grave military situation, they have decided to suspend their scruples and serve with the colours. Some of the men stated they had changed their views on learning of the indiscriminate bombing of civil ians by Nazi airmen. Others declare they could not hold their conscientious objections after Seeing pictures of the ruthless destruction of homes and hospitals in France and the Low Countries. "The sight of machine gunned mothers lying dead beside their ehild- ; ren is Avhat got me," wrote one. 'That is a thing I cannot tolerate. The Boches must be exterminated."
