' —: .#» EMPLOYEES PLACED APPLICATION IN BAY OF PLENTY Dealing with the application of the 4F scheme in the Bay of Plenty, Mr Armstrong, Placement Officer for ihe district, said recently tliat the ;scheme provided authority for the /Placement Officer to draw on Pubilic Works Department, State Forest .Service, and Lands ancl Survey employees should the supply of farm labourers fall -short.. So far, of the dJBO employees* of these three -services, 206 men had been selected as .suitable for farm labour. Of these 73 experienced and 36 inexperienced men, a total of 109 were ready and willing to accept l'arm labour. These figures referred to the whole of the Bay of Plenty, added! Mr Armstrong, and 43 vacancies on / farms had been filled recently. Thus far, 10 men had been transferred to work on farms in the Rotorua dis-J trict, double that in Tauranga, and •about the same at Whakatane. Far- 1 mers must necessarily be prepared to accept older men as time went ■ on, and/the young men were called tup for military service.
