NEW YORK SCHEME PROVIDING OF COMFORTS Advice of the formation of an organisation in New York City known as the Anzac War Relief Fund has been received by an Auck land firm from Mr Alfred H. jamin, a member of the executive. In a letter dated June 13 he states that the purpose of the organisation is to obtain substantial sums so that comforts can be provided for Australian and New Zealand soldiers at the front, and points out that 2."i years ago he was engaged on similar work. At that time several ambulances were sent to Egypt and France, and it was hoped to be able to do the same again. It is stated by Mr Benjamin tTiat in the two weeks since the establishment of the fund over 2000. dollars had been collected and that it was expected to raise at least 25,000 dollars in the next few weeks. Among the first donors were three American firms, Norton Lilly and Company, Socony Vacuum Company and the Texas Oil Company, which has each made gifts of 500 dollars. "We are receiving enthusiastic support, and the sentiment of the American people is 100 per cent, with the Allies," concludes the letter. It is interesting to note that another member of the executive is Sir Hubert Wilkins, the noted Australian Antarctic explorer.
