TELEGRAM RATES
CONCESSIONS TO SOLDIERS NEW SCALE ANNOUNCED 'The local postmaster, Mr L. G. Wood, announces to-day that a new concession rate in telegrams for use of members serving in the armed forces in New Zealand has been released. The statement'reads: —• • Commencing to-day, a concession rate inland telegram service will be available for telegrams exchanged between members of the armed forces and their relatives and friends in New Zealand. Such telegrams arc to be charged for at the rate of Id per word with a minimum charge of (id, no charge being made lor the addresses. Messages must be of a social or domestic nature and must be addressed to members of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) in barracks, camps, naval depots, forts, coast watching stations, etc. Messages from members of the Armed Forces are accepted at the reduced rate onlj r when the senders are in uniform and in addition to signature the endorsement must include the sender's rank and the, Unit to which he is attaQhccl. On Sundays and holidays the rate is to be per word with a minimum charge of 9d with no charge for the address.
