; Lord Wool ton is still sufficiently self-conscious in his office of Food Minister to make jokes about it. He i takes pride in being an amateur. At the gas industry's lunch at the Dorchester he was mildly satirical at the expense of "people who think they are performing better national i service if they are doing work for ; which they have not been trained." < Then he added, "I am a magnificent example of that fallacy." Lord Woolton was highly apprecative of the "all-rationed" menu. Its principal dish was a fritto mosto of what is technically termed by his department "offal"-—sweet breads kidneys and other delicacies not embraced. bj' rationing. : "If I had a meal like this every : day, I am quite sure my term of of--1 fice would be very short indeed," i was Lord Woolton's comment on the ' lavish bill of fare.
