FUNDS AUGMENTED The funds of the Edgecumbe Patriotic Committee were further augmented by the proceeds of a dance held in the new Edgecumbe Hall. The music was contributed gratis by the Whakatane Pipe Band and the Gaiety Boys' Orchestra and a very enjoyable programme was org- 1 anised by Mr T. Bell who capably • acted as M.C After supper, Mr lan Gow, President of the Committee, thanKed all those who had assisted in the first public function organised by the newly elected Patriotic Committee. The funds benefited to the extent of £13 18s 3d. As a result of a social evening arranged by Mrs F. Patience's Ballroom Class, £3 14s has also been added to the funds, and last week Mr and Mrs E. Blair organised a Flag 500 Evening at their residence thereby adding a further £5 8s 9d. /
