Rabbi Dr Israel Porush, who has • arrived in Sydney from London to fill the office of chief minister of the Grea,t Synagogue, said that the old animosity between Arabs and. Tews in Palestine, had disappeared r since the "war, and that they were ■ new serving in the same battalions j In the Allied cause. • On his way to Sydney, Dr Porush spent several weeks in Palestine., where he was born. Before accepting his present office, he served as • abbi in Finchley, a suburb of London. He is in his thirty-third year, and is a Doctor of Philosophy. Dr Porush said that he was great:y impressed .with the Australian soldiers he saw in Palestine, some nf whom he invited to his home ■ here. Judging from their healthy f.ppearance, the Palestine climate suited them. "The Australian people," he said, "will no doubt be pleased to know Miat their soldiers are exceedingly popular in Palestine, alike for their bearing and the fact that tliey make friends easily and mix well with the people there. They have also won their way into the hearts of the people in Palestine because of their fondness for the children there."
