I ACCOMMODATION FOR LABOUR PAYMENT OF SUBSIDIES In a pamphlet issued to the farming community, the Government apk. peals to farmers to take advantage - of its housing scheme. Under the t sub-heading, Plow to Proceed, it f states: "If you are in need of accommodation on your farm for 0 single men, or temporary accommog dation for married men, consult the - nearest office of the State Advances Corporation or Placement Officer 1 and obtain full particulars as to 1 how your requirements can be met. You Avill be assisted in every possible way. TAKE ACTION now so r that the accommodation can be - erected before the next season com- • mences." t The leaflet continues: , House Allowance for Married Men. To further facilitate the transfer of married men to farms, the Government is prepared to pav a ho v;e allowance of 12s 6d per week to married men taking up farm work while they are inquired to live, awav from home, "ho payment of I his allowance in the meantime will enable farmers to make provision for the erection of permanent quarters for tlie married worker where this course is justified. Inexperienced Men—Payment of Subsidies. To assist in the employment and training of inexperienced men, the Government Avill also pay an amount of 30s per week for the first six months and 15s per week for the second six months in respect of any inexperienced man of 20 years of age and over, whom you employ and train. You will be entitled to receive this payment for any inexperienced man taken by you so i long as application is first made through the State Placement Officer - or nearest office of the Social. Security Department. The actual Avages to be paid is a matter for the agreement between the farmer and his employee. The ■ full subsidy will be paid irrespeci ti've of the wages paid by the farmi er, but the wages must of course I be not less than those provided un- • der the Agricultural Workers' Act. Where to Apply for Labour. ; If you are in need of labour for your farm, notify the nearest Place- ■ ment Officer or branch of the Social Security Department, or if more convenient .to 3 r ou, tell one of the Field Officers of the State Ativan-. ces Corporation, Lands and Survey ; or Agriculture Departments, and he will pass the information on to tlie Placement Officer. I ( Appeal to Farmers. Farmers! You are urged not to ■ reduce flocks, herds or output when : your employees are proceeding on ; active service. ' [ Notwithstanding the difficulties, the Dominion must produce to tlie : utmost. if Co-operate and the Government ! will see you through by ensuring that an adequate supply of labour will be made available whenever required.
