SOME DISCUSSION ON QUESTION POWER BOARD MEETS Messrs W. T. Burrctt, S-. C". Spence, F. J. Burt, J. Mitchell,, J. W. Sumner, W. A. Gault, S. well; Mr J. D. Dicker, EngineerManager and Mr G. A. Hathaway*/ Secretary, were present for the monthly meeting of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board, held at Opotiki. Mr Dicker read a comprehensive report dealing with the price of current and , a suggested reduction in the cost of power to consumers. Considerable discussion followed, Mr Spence remarking that he would like to see a reduction, if any, on the domestic side. That would encourage the use of electricity in the homes. Mr Maxwell observed that what he had said for years, that members were looking after the interests of the 'big' man and not the 'small' man, was correct. Members of the Board took exception to this, Mr Sumner saying that members were present in the interests of all consumers and objected to Mr .Maxwell's comment. After further discussion the En-gineer-Manager said he would bring down a report at the next meeting of the Board on a basis oif £500 reductio-n in charges. Land at Whakatane. A letter was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs advising that the necessary Order-in-Council Avould be issued to permit the purchase of land in Whakatane for building purposes.
