ANNUAL MEETING
BAY OF PLENTY HOSPITAL BOARD
CHAIHMAN RE-ELECTED The Bay ol" Plenty Hospital Board held its annual meeting on Thursday, with the retiring Chairman, Mr J. W. Sumner, presiding over Messrs R. W. Schofield, L. Buddie, F. J. Burt, F. J. Savage., C. A. Suckling, A. -F. MeCougan and Mrs YV. A. McCracken. The acting-Sec-retary, Mr A. Bridger, and the Medical Superintendent, Dr E. Tewsley Dawson, were present. In nominating Mr J. W. Sumner for re-election as Chair mart of the Board, Mr L. Buddie spoke of his long service and his application to matters affecting the hospital. He ; had been a member of the Board ! for a good many years and Chairman for several terms and lijis services had been invaluable, not only to the Board, but to the ratepayers and the hospital staff also. Mr F. J. Burt seconded the noitir ination, endorsing Mr Buddie's remarks and adding that lie had considered it a privilege to have* been associated with him in hospital affairs for so many years. All members paid their tributes in speaking to the motion, and the vote for Mr Sumner'fe re-election \vas unanimous. Statistics for Month. Remaining in hospital on May Ist, 25 males, 37 females, total 62. Admissions for May, 54,. 90, 144: Dis charges, 43,. 85, 128; Deaths, 2, 1, 3; Remaining in hospital May 31st, 34.. 41, 75; Births, 21, 16, 37; Operations, Major 5, Minor 48. Daily average occupied beds for the month 68.1.
