300 OLD WRECKS
Perhaps no other harbour has somuch treasure trove as Capetown harbour. Table Bay is the graveyard of at least 300 wrecks and scores of cannonballs. For the last 18 months 'lr o ,]jf e(s have been hard at work burying these historical wrecks for all time as part of reclamation work' which is being carried out in connection with Capetown's £6,000,003 harbour scheme for building a new civic and shopping centre on thereelaimcd land. The other day an old wooden wreck was discovered, strongly built and. heavily armed < and its figurehead was saiit to ;t museum.
