It is reported that he hasthrown off the muscle soreness that affected him in arriving in Australia, and already his chances of winning big events in New South Wales during the spring months are very highly assessed. Hurdle Recruit. ' The latest recruit to the ranks of jumpers at Ellerslie is Beeswing, who shaped well when schooled over the pony hurdles on Saturday. Although she has been a winner, Beeswing has been disappointing on theflat and failed to make the ment expected. The Thames owned Hot Box mhdsv. his re-appearance at Ellerslie, "v\?itU the colours np on Saturday in Cornwall Handicap, but the heavygoing did not suit him and he ran accordingly. Evidently he was improved by the gallop, for on Wednesday he was very prominent in the York Handicap right up to the home turn. A Distinct Loss. Miss S. Hutton, of Bangor,, Canterbury, sustained a severe loss last week by Scarlet Rambler breaking a leg while landing over a brush steeplechase fence. Scarlet Rambler was by Day Comet and was bred at the Stonyhurst Stud. She was considered a very promisingproposition for winter jumping events.
