PROTEST MADE

THANKING WHARF LABOURERS "I am satisfied that the farmers will do everything possible for the war effort but we must be sure that everyone else will do the same," said Mr J. W. Jones, of Pakaraka, at the annual Auckland provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. "In this respect I wish to protest against Avharf labourers being thanked for working on Saturday afternoons. They should not be thanked; it is absolutely their duty. This is no time for a 40-liour week.. If you get our friend Hitler here there will be no question of a 40hour week."
