COUNCIL BUYS A COTTAGE? ROLE OF LANDLORD IN ,THE FUTURE In May advice was received fro mi Mr McLennan that lie was retiring from the position he had held in the Borough interests and he offered his cottage and windmill to the Council. Crs Sullivan and Shapley inspected the building and reported to the Council on Monday night. Cr Sullivan said it was a reasonable oiler at £150, being a nice little cottage of three rooms. It would be impossible to erect a similar building at that price and he thought it would be a good policy to purchase. The house could be let to Mr McLennan's successor. Cr Sullivan, as had Cr Shapley, praised Mr McLennan for his work. On the motion of Cr Canning, seconded by Cr Sullivan, it was agreed to purchase, and another motion fixed the rental at 7/6 per week, to be reviewed when necessary.
