FINE GESTURE BY GREEK COMMUNITY DONATION BY WHAKATANE BUSINESS MAN A visitor to Whakatane on Wednesday AA'as the Vicc-Consul lor Greece, Mr N. Garland, of Wellington. He was accompanied by Mr A. Janis and Mr Christie, also of Wellington. This party is engaged on a tour of the North Island, paying their oAvn expenses, for the purpose of arranging for a Dominion-Avide con tribution to the National Patriotic Funds by all Greeks resident in NeAV Zealand. It has been agreed that the entire takings from all Greek businesses on Friday, June 28th, AA'ill be handed over to the Fund. In Whakatane Mr P. Coutts has generously offered to donate the proceeds from his two shops and Avill hand that day's takings to Mr B. S. Barry, chairman of the local Patriotic Committee.
