LATE FOOTBALL MATCHES
Nothing is more annoying to spectators than to hang about waiting for a sporting fixture to commence some, half hour after its scheduled time. Lately followers of the good old game of rugger complain that this sort of tiling has become a distressing feature of many of the games played under the Whakatane Union. A study of the position shows that the flayers are <in the main responsible for these delays and that the Union does all in its power to promote and stage the rugby programme according to the draw. Players should therefore remember that they owe a duty to the union in these difficult days. It is hard enough to keep the old game going without having to put up with the slacking methods of easy-going players who don't care for the opinion of the dijlookers and who have no interest in the ''gate'' which furnishes the. very life blood whereby the game is carried on.
