SOME NOTES ON THE GAME Q: Must the centre toe the line with both feet? A: Tlie centre may toe the line with either or both feet. She must toe the end of the line, no matter what position her bodj r takes up. Q: May the two wing centres stand both on the same side of the courts? A: The wing centres may take up their positions anywhere in the centre court. Q: Is the opposing centre free to move from the 9ft line as soon as the whistle blows, or must she continue to toe the line until the pass it; taken? A-: As soon as the whistle sounds, all players except the centre taking the pass, are free to move. Q: "An opponent of the thrower-in shall stand off the court beside her.'' Docs this mean that the thrower-in must wait for hei opponents to take up her position, or may the throAverin play the ball, even though no opponent is outside the court? A; It is not necessary for the thrower-in to wait until her opponent is off the court beside her, but if her opponent takes part in the game, inside the court, she should be penalised. Q: "No other player shall stand within 9 feet of the player throwing in." Are Ave correct in ruling that if the player stands 4ft outside the line, to throw in, any other player may be sft from the line? A: The 9ft distance is taken as a semi-circle of 9ft radius, Avith the thrower-in as the centre. Q: "No other player shall stand within 9ft of the player throwingin." Does this mean that the players cannot approach nearer than Oft or that all players are free to move as soon as the ball has left the hands of the throAver-in 1 * A: As soon as the ball has left the hands of the player throwing in, the opponent of the thrower-in may take part in the game, and other players may approach Avithin the Oft distance, which means that a player may be in order, if she takes possession of the ball, AA'hen she is closer than 9ft to the thro Aver-in. This,. hoAvever, needs careful timing on the part of the players.
