COMMITTEE FORMED
PATRIOTIC AFFAIRS AT OTAKIRI ACTIVITIES IN THE DISTRICT To raise money for patriotic purposes, subject to governing regulations, a committee has been formed at Otakiri. The personnel is: Mr R. W. Dunning, Chairman; Mrs llckner„ Hon. Sec.; Mesdames Lord and Higham, Misses Pinhey and Tunnicliffe, Messrs L. Chrystall, J. Revell, J. Tickner, O. Lord, Higham, A. Smith and M. F. Kedgeley. Known as the Otakiri Patriotic Social Committee, it is the intention to hold a series of monthly dances. June 13 is scheduled for the first and thereafter will be held on the second Thursday in each month. Other social activities are also projected and it is apparent that this district intends to do all possible in raising funds. OHOPE RED CROSS FORTNIGHTLY MEETING HELD The fortnightly meeting of the Ohope Auxiliary Branch of the Red Cross was held recently, there being a very good attendance. A donation of £30 was received from Mr Runnerstrum for the Sick and Wounded Fund. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to the donor. It was decided to hold a ladies afternoon social on Tuesday, May 28th, and the proceeds will be in aid of the Red Cross Funds. Everybody is welcome.
