WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT MATA.TA The monthly meeting of the Matata Women's Institute was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday 22nd May at 1.30 p.m. Owing to the inclemency of the weather the attendance was poor. The meeting opened with the read ing of the aspirations. The motto for the afternoon was "Real Happiness is only obtained Through Unselfishness." Business consisted of the choosing of a delegate for the Dominion Conference to be held in July, and arrangements were made to enter a Court in the forthcoming Winter Show. The Roll Call was "An Old Treasure." This brought forth some interesting and ancient articles. Competitions resulted: Best Ironed Table Centre: Mrs Ansell 1, Mrs Cum mings 2, Mrs R. Withy 3. Ladies' Spray. ; Mrs H. Withy 1, Mrs R. Withy 2, Mrs 11. D. Wilson 3. Best Flower: Mrs Smith 1, Mrs Ansell 2, Mrs H. Withy 3. Ginger Snapsi Mrs Ansell 1, Mrs H. Withy 2, Mrs Smith 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Cummings.
