ESTIMATES AND LOAN

HOSPITAL MATTERS AFFECTING COUNTY CONFERENCE SUGGESTED Advice was received by the County Council from the of Plenty Hospital Board advising that the Board proposed making application "to the Loans Board for its sanction ito borrow £4,000 for additions to domestic staff quarters, additions to maternity annexe, tennis courts for staff recreation and concrete paths -around buildings. It was a recommendation from the "Finance Committee that in connection with this proposed capital expenditure and the 1940-41 estimates, the Board be respectfully requested to meet the Council in conference. Cr McCracken said it was considered to be important to have a discussion with the Board. "It is a good idea to have a conference," said Cr Burt. "You must jrmember that the members of the Board are ratepayers and th4y aren't going to throw anything heavy on to the County." Referring to the proposed expenditure on tennis courts for the staff, •Cr McGougan said that money spent in that way was well spent. No ortc worked harder than the nurses and they should have recration. The recommendation was adopted.
