Dear Sir,
CALL TO PRAYER Sir, —May I express my personal appreciation of your wise and timely editorial words in connection with the call of our King to prayer on Sabhoth next. His Majesty Has given his subjects throughout the Empire a worthy lead in this momentous hour. We are passing through a time of unparalleled crisis and national peril, a time when we surely need the guidance and help of Almighty God. us would like to be able to stem the tide -of German invasion, and beat back the Barbarian hordes from France. We find, however, that there is so little that at this moment and at this distance we can really do except wait and hear what will come to pass. There is one thing howeve.r that we can do irrespective of cmed or church, we can repair to our respective places of worship on SabbotH and implore the Lord of Hosts, to give deliverance from our enemies, and victory for truth and righteousness . It has been claimed that "he who prays most helps most" and saidf that "prayer moves the hand that moves the universe." Again and again God has heard the cry of His people in days past and given them deliverance. He has been our help in the days of the Spanish Armada, in the days oJE Napoleon, and in the days of the Kaiser. And He will be our help in days when we live under the shadow of the Swastika, and the menace of Hitlerism. There is surely a call in this grave hour to all who believe in God, and have faith that He answers prayer, to follow the lead given by our beloved sovereign, a,nd betake themselves to prayer for in-* dependence and liberty. Yours etc., ,T. PATTISON, The Manse, Whakatane.
