LYCEUM CLUB
DRAMA AND MUSIC AFTERNOON On Thursday afternoon last the ladies of the Lyceum Club spent a very pleasant afternoon. The proceedings opened with the singing of the National Anthem. Then a one-act comedy called "Me and My Diary" was read and acted. The cast was; Lady Adela, Mrs H. Armstrong; The Hon Mrs Cheneys, Mrs S. Spenee; Phyllis Awkwright, Mrs G. Otley; Patience Marlowe, Miss Allan; Miss Tibbits, Mrs G. Farmer; Humphrey Woods, Mrs Drube. Mrs Norman Carter sang two songs which were greatly appreciated. Mrs E. Armstrong was the accompanist. Next was a comedy duologue called "Lady Jemima's Weekly Thought," the performers dressing for the parts. The characters were: Harry Welbeck, Mrs Keir; Rose Welbeck, Mrs Appleby. After the last play a war-time afternoon tea was served. Those in the audience were: Mesdames E. Armstrong, D. Smith (Auckland), Ashman (Christchurch) N. Carter, G. Booth, Arthur Bridger, Warner, J. Morice, Luxton, Thomas, Littlejohn and Miss Whiteside.
