OBITUARY
MRS PEXI HETARAKA The death occurred at her home, Pahau, Poroporo, on Sunday, of Mrs Peti Hetaraka, at the age of 78. Mrs Hetaraka, who was a Ngati-Manawa-Tuhoe, was well known throughout the Bay of Plenty and particularly in the Whakatane, Poroporo and Galatea districts. Bora at Galatea in 1862, Mrs Hetaraka married at the age of eighteen and lived at Whakatane and Poroporo, having homes in both places. She reared a family of eighteen and two of her sons saw service in the Great War. Two grand-children and fifteen nephews are serving in the present war. Mrs Hetaraka is surived by her husband, Mr Men to Hetaraka, foi> thirty-one years Chairman of the Matatua Maori Council, one son and four daughters. One of the largest tangis hefld f£r some years is being ttt Pahau, representatives of tribes from the whole of the Bay of Plenty attending. The funeral is expected to take place to-day.
