ACCIDENT AT PAPER MILLS FALL OF FIFTEEN FEET While engaged on a stack of pulp ■at the Whakatane Paper Mills at yesterday morning, a young man, Ivan Quedley, single, lost his balance and i'cll 15 feet to the concrete floor. It is presumed that Mr Quedley, who was using a hook to shift bales ■ of the pulp, swung a hook, which failed to connect with the bale. Mr "Quedley fell backwards and sustained a fracture of the base of the. skull !His condition is serious. MISHAP ON FARM YOUNG MAN INJURED While working a top-dresser on the farm where he is employed, a young man, Owen Finn, son of Mr Tff. Finn, of James Street, fell underneath and. sustained lacerations to the right ear and scalp. He was ad--/xnitted to hospital. LOST IN THE KAIMAIS FORMER WHAKATANE RESIDENT It is reported that Mr Buster Chilton, of Matamata, and well known • as a former resident of Whakatane, "left on Sunday with two companions on a pig shooting expedition in the Kaimais. So far they have failed to return and fears are expressed as the party carried no food .and were dressed in light clothing.'
