HEAVY SMOKERS
Joseph Jahoda, of Vienna, celebrated a ninetieth anniversary some years ago by smoking his 202,000 th cigar, and William Williams, who died at Penarth in 19131. claimed to have smoked over 300,000 cigars. Herr Nanas, another Austrian, kept an exact record of his smokes, which on his death, at the age of 72, had reached the almost incredible total of (528,7.13 cigars. For a wager, a French cab driver, Charles Chatainnon, undertook to smoke 100 strong cigars in two days. In the first 24 hours he disposed of 6(5 cigars, and after a rest of two hours resumed his task at a more leisure-' ly pace, and finished the 100 th cigar several hours ahead of time.
