SOLDIER FOOTBALLERS BAY OF PLENTY REPRESENTED
Whakatanc and Matata were re* presented in tlie principal fixture at Eden Park. Auckland, on Saturday, when a combined fifteen from the Ngaruawahia and Papakura camps defeated a Maori Battalion team by 18 points to 3.
Corporal E. N. Howell, of Matata, and a Rangitaiki and Bay of Plenty representative, was responsible for the 3 points gained by the Maoris. He scored an unconverted try. The other Maori Battalion player from the Bay of Plenty was Private E. H. McCausland, well known in this district as a Paroa senior player and a Whakatane representative. Sergeant J. J. Best, a former City player and a Bay of Plenty and New Zealand representative forward, was in the combined team, which included another All Black in Second-Lieutenant C. S. Pepper. TE TEKO CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The Te Teko Football Club held its annual meeting last Tuesday night.- There was only a small «'Vt ; r ,' tendance but a keen spirit prevailed. In the absence of the president, Mr T. Edwards was voted to the chair and it was decided that; the |Tc Teko Club would nominate a senior and a junior team, and a Third Grade combination if possible . The secretary, Mr R. Harty, presented the balance sheet. The fin-' ances are at a very low ebb, but with a strong effort by the committee and support from the local busi ness people it is hoped to get t.b.,0 Club back on a sound footing.
