POSTAGE ON MAIL TO TROOPS REDUCTIONS ANNOUNCED Mr L. E. Norriss, Acting-Post-master at Whakatane, advises that finality has now been reached in the discussions with Overseas Postal Administrations and the following charges will be effective irame•diately in regard to postal matter for members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and members of British Armed Forces on active rservice: Up to 31b 1/71b 2/As a general rule parcels must not exceed 71b in weight, but parcels that cannot be divided (for •example containing a cake which "when packed would weigh mora than 71bs) may be accepteed up to 111b in weight and the charge is to be 4/-. Customs Duty on Parcels. With the exception of parcels •containing tobacco, cigarettes and liquors all parcels not exceding 11 lb in weight addressed to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force will in future be free of customs duty. Heavy rates of duty apply to parcels containing tobacco, cigarettes and liquor. Postage rates for letters and news papers are as follows: Letters 2d first oz, Id each additional %0-z.. Newspapers each 3oz.
