£100 BAIL
YOUNG MAN CHARGED ARREARS OF MAINTENANCE The granting of bail was oppos'ed by Constable *R. A. A. Prater In the ease of Laurence Rossiter, alias L. Tracey, aged 26. a painter, Avho appeared before Mr C. G. -Lucas, J.P., in the Police Court yesterday charged with disobedience of a maintenance order issued against him at Nelson in 1937$ The terms of the order Avere for the 'payment of £1 10s per week and 'the arrears to 17/1/39 amounted ho :£lO2. Constable Prater, representing the "Police, asked for a remand until May 7, and this Avas granted. Accused requested bail but Corjf ■stable Prater said he Avould haA'e to oppose it and asked that bail be made substantial if allowed as the Police had had some difficulty in tracing defendant. The arrears quot -ed in the charge A\ r ere up to January of last year. Arrears now •totalled about £200. Rossiter was remanded for a week rand bail AA r as fixed at £100.
