NATIVE LAND SCHEME

TEACHING MAORI FARMERS LEADING SETTLER'S PRAISE In the course of his remarks at the opening of the new Te Teko Native School, last Saturday, Mr W. A. McCraclten paid a warm tribute to the success of the Natjivc Land Scheme. It was, he said, the only practicable way in which to bring in land successfully, under Maori ownership. The scheme enabled Maorfs to commence with proper facilities, sheds, fences, buildings, and further [appointed an overseer who always ready to assist and advise. The whole scheme was properly financed and it was an indication of its success to note the number of farmers who were responding to it and really prospering under its guidance and showing good results.
