FIRST AID CLASS
INSTRUCTION COMMENCES FIFTH OF THE SERIES The fifth of a series of first-aid classes conducted by the St. John Ambulance was commenced recent* ly. The classes, held in the Borough Council Chambers, are well attended and the keenness displayed by members is shown in the one hundred per cent pass at examinations. Fifty-two attended the last two classes and all passed. Mr A. J. Canning stated that the percentage pass was due to the work of the instructor, Dr Fletcher Cole, who had been untiring in his efforts, and thanks were due to him. Mr Canning also stressed the value of the St. John work and hoped to see continued interest and enthusiasm* In a brief survey of the value of first-aid knowledge, Dr Fletcher Cole instanced the case of a, shooting accident in the district and said that if people with a knowledge of first-aid had been present a man's ; life could probably have been savedL
