POPPY DAY
R.S.A. APPEAL GOOD RETURN EXPECTED The Returned Soldiers" Association held the annual Poppy" Day appeal on Friday, the arrangements for the sale of the poppies being in the care of Mrs Raymond apd a willing band of ladies stationed in the town and at various centres in the country. Nearly everybody seen in the Strand on Friday night was wearing the red Bower, and though the emblems were small they added a touch of colour to the everyday scene. Particularly was this noticeable in the theatres. The returns from some of the country centres are not yet to hand, and as sales will be continued until Anzac Day it is not possible to judge the result of the appeal. Mr W. F. K, Raymond, president of the Association, stated on Saturday morning that indications were that last year's figure would be reached, and possibly surpassed.
