CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED END OF SEASON PLAY The week-end saw the finish of the Whakatane Bowling Club's competitions. In the Championship Pairs. A Section was won by Hellyar and Loane (s), with six wins. Three teams tied in B Section, J. Bell and Mclsaac (s), Comer and Sloane (s), and Littlejohn and Howat (s) each having live wins. Comer and Sloane were successful in the play-off. The final between the sections produced a great game, Helh r ar and Loane running out the winners by 24 to 21. The Junior Singles Championship was won by W. Henderson, a first year player, who defeated Nicholson in the final by 21 to 20. Unfortunately, owing to inclement weather in the morning, the teams from Te Puke did not come through, so the ordinary draw was proceeded with. The following arc pjfayers selected to play for the Shield against Tancatua at Whakatane at 2 p.m. on Saturday next, 20th April:— McLeod, Littlejohn, Hooper, Graham (s); H:iywood, King, Baxter, Caisley (s); Francis, Luxton, Burgess, Currah (s); Healy, Mclsaac, Chambers, Loane (s). The Feathers team also being Dixon, Savage, Dines r Henderson (s). Players unable to play please notify the secretary. 'Players are also asked to bring a plate.
