SCRUB FIRE

REFLECTION ON THE CLOUDS An area of scrub and flax at Whakatane West burned until the early hours of Tuesday morning. Commencing in the; late afternoon on Monday the fire reflected brightly on the clouds all Monday night and was visible fpr some miles. The absence of wind prevented the spread of the flames and the outbreak was well confined.
