OUTSIZE TOMATOES

Sir,—Being a newcomer to the Bay of Plenty, I have been surprised to note the growth of the tomato crops in this district. Although the season is now nearly over, X have seen for the first time giant specimens which where I come from would have to be seen to be believed. A week or two ago I was shown a single fruit (or vegetable,, I'm not sure which!) weighing exactly 1% lbs. This to me Avas a record but I understand there are other growers who can boast of even larger ones. For the sake of satisfying my curiosity, can any of your readers name an instance where tomatoes of greater weight have been grown in the Bay? Yours etc., HORTICULTURIST.
