THE GRAND OLD GAME
Followers of the grand old game of Rugby will note with pleasure the wholehearted deeisipn of the Local Umon to continue with the rounds and competitions as in the past. The tendency shown in other centres to curtail and cut down was refreshingly absent at the Whakatane meeting, and sup porters can. now look forward to the same keen games whii'ch have been a feature of the winter sporting activities of past years. The average age of the players will of necessity be somewhat younger, but already some of the hardier and fitter of the old timers have announced their intention of donning the jersey again. Congratulations to the Union and the best of prospects to the players who will endeavour to carry on the Rugby laurels of the district tfn spite of the fact that so many of the best players are overseas.
