AUTUMN HORSE FAIR
WHAKATANE SALE UNBROKEN DRAUGHTS £40 t' Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Opotiki, report having held their Atitumn Horse Fair at Whakatane when a medium entry of all classes of horses aame -forward. The quality and standard was not up to previous years. There was a medium representative attendance of buyers from surrounding districts and as far as Auckland. Unbroken good quality heavy draughts met with keen competition at rates con siderably less than the corresponding fixture last year., Aged useful reliable farm draughts sold under steady competition, also good quality young hacks. Al4 other classes were dull of sale and passings were frequent. The outstanding sale of the fixture was for a nice 3-year heavy draught filly on account of W. J. Thompson, realising £40, the purchaser being T. Gulverwell, Opo tiki. Realisations:— Heavy draughts, unbroken £25 to £40; medium draughts, unbroken £10 to £lo; unbroken hacks £2 10s to £8; broken aged draughts £10 to £17; aged medium draughts £8 to £10: hacks £3 to £5; good £7 to £9; aged and inferior £1 to £4.
