WEDDING
LOANE--MIKKELSEN The Matata Presbyterian Church was the scene of a Aery pretty wedding of great local interest on Saturday morning, the contracting parties being Joyce Ann, daughter ol Mr and Mrs T, Mikkelsen, of Otamarakau, and Mr James Harold Vercoe Loane, of PongakaAva Valley. The RcA r . J. Laughton of Ohope, AA'as the officiating minister, and the wedding march Avas played by Mrs Cowie, of Edgecumbe. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion by the many friends of the families. The bride, who was given away by her father, made a pleasing picture dress ed in a gown of magnolia embossed satin beaute moulded to the figure Avith a train.' The goAvn had long, close-fitting sleeves puffed at the shoulders, while she also Avore a. beautiful embroidered tulle veil Avitli a coronet of pearls and orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of roses and carnations. The bride's three sisters, Misses Annie„ Florence and Ivy Mikkelsen, as bridesmaids, were also charmingly gowneel in rosepink satin beaute wearing coronets of flowers and carrying floral muffs. The best- man AA'as Mr Dave Campbell of Pongakawa Valley and the groomsmen AA r ere Messrs F. McGarva and G. Dittmer. Following the ceremony, the 170 guests AA r ere ieceived at the reception at the Otamarakau Hall, Avhich had also been tastefully decorated. The bride's mother, Mrs T. Mikkelsen, received her guests wearing a cyclamen angel-ciloth ensemble with a posy to match. In this she was assisted by Mrs H. Loane, of PongakaAva Valley, aunt of the bridegroom Avho Avas wearing an attractive navy ensemble. A long list of toasts were honoured at the reception and the best Avishes for the future Avere extended to the happy couple by their many friends. The MLC's were Messrs George and Axel Mortensem Later in the evening a dance was held in the Otamarakau Hall,, when close on 200 guests gathered to enjoy the jollities of the evening. Music Avas supplied by Mr Rowe, while Mr Mortensen continued his ! duti'es as master of ceremonies. The bride and groom left on a motor tour, the bride choosing a pine rust frock bolero ensemble Avith nigger-broAvn accessories to match, as her travelling outfit.
