STATE SUBSIDY
MONEY FOR MEMORIAL APPLICATION MADE Application i'or a subsidy of £466 from the Government lias beer* made by the Auckland Provincial Centennial Council on behalf of the Whakatane County and Borough combined Centennial Committee, which raised £1400 for the local memorial. The Council is acting for a number of committees . and subsidies ranging from £682 to £2 . are being clajimed on a £1 to £3 basis. Whakatane's wonderful effort is demonstrated by a comparison in. figures. The amounts raised in the various districts are as follows, the subsidy applied for being shown in parentheses: Otania.tfea £2045 (£682); Whakatane Borough and County £1100 (£466); Ng'aruawaliia, £687 (£229); Mount Eden Borough, £684 (£228); Waitoa, £188 (£63): Hamilton, £100 (£33); Waihi, £66 (£22); Raglan, £30 (£10); Paeroa Boroughand Ohinemuri County, £15 (£5); Whangarei (progress) £6 (£2) .
