ENJOYABLE DAY

lIIS WORSHIP'S OBSERVATIONS "SHOOK WHAKATANE UP" "J t was an enjoyable day and worth any expense," said His Worship the Mayor when referring to last Saturday during the course of the Borough Council meeting on Monday night. "Not only was iti an enjoyable day but it shook W'hakatane up,'" observed His Worship* and added that there was a great value in the publicity derived from the Centennial celebrations. Ihe Minister of Internal Affairs had left on Monday morning, impressed, not only with the celebrations, but with the town itself. Cr Shapley rose to congratulate the Mayor and the Town Clerk, saying that Saturday had been a great credit to the district. His Worship said he Avas only a figurehead and the credit should go to Mr Saunders, who had been responsible for a wonderful organisation which, as usual, had functioned like clockwork. The whole borough staff had "worked well and mention had to be made of the part played by the Foreman, Mr Henderson.
