GOOD WISHES

PRIME MINISTER'S MESSAGE Prior to his address at the Heads, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, read the following message and greeting from the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage:—■ "Please convey heartily my warmest greetings to the Pakehas and Maoris unitedly of the Bay of Plenty in the celebra-* tions taking place to-day at Wha fcatane to mark the Centennial of New Zealand. "This year is of the greatest importance in the history of our country and the fitting cere monial by which it is being honoured at Wliakatane shows that the people, Pakelia and Maori alike, appreciate with worthy acknowledgment the significance of the great event we nationally and spiritedly celebrate in the Dominion, "New Zealand has made remarkable progress in the one hundred years of its settlement, which is so highly eulogised by other nations of tbo world. That progress, coupled with the sound judgment and enterprise of New Zealand's people will be unabaiediy continued. The great Commonwealth of Nations, with which Nov/ Zealand is inseparably and loyally allied, in spite of the struggle in which it has been placed, speeds on its way, the envy of the world. My warmest greetings to all."
