LETTER FROM MAJOR FRANK FRIDEAUX WHAK AT AN E BOYS WELL Interesting extracts of a letter from Major Frank Prideaux are printed hereunder for the benefit of those who are interested in boys who are away serving with expeditionary force in Egypt. ] The letter arrived by air mail j and was Written on February 16th. j Major Prideaux writes:— } You will have-heard over the air and in the papers that we landed a few days ago in the land of sand and flies. The winter climate is really quite good. From about 9 a.m. until 4.30 it is as hot as one of our mid-sum-mer days, but the nights are very cold. A On our way to the camp we came through some beautiful cultivated I areas, but here <we are camped ori real desert, not a blade of grass anywhere. r"\ The advance partV have had a big job in laying it all out and the job is not finished,, but it as very nice to find things as advanced as tlhey were. The roads through the s camp have been formed and metalled, and are at present being tar-sealed. are named after our leaders in the last war, Russell Terrace, Godley Avenue, Chaytor Street and so oyKii Tent accommodation is good, the chief drawback is that the floors are composed wholly of sand. The tucker is plentiful and good/* and agreeably plain after the flash meals on the boat. The lues's is in . a marquee at present but is tio be moved to a hut when one is available . There are as yet no showers but there should be some ready in day or two.
