OPOTIKI v. W AIM AN A FRIENDLY MATCH Teams representing the Opotiki" and Waimana Tennis Clubs played a friendly match at Waimana at the week-end. Play was repeatedlyinterrupted by rain during the afternoon, but in spite of the weather conditions, the match was completed. At one stage of tlic afternoon the pools of water were swept o#' the courts in order ffaat the re jinainlng matches could be played. v A;n enjoyable day was spent by all. On behalf of the Opotiki team,. Mr G. W. Button extended thanksto the Waimana Club for the hospitality the team had received. Addison beat Miss Gillespie 7-2: 'Miss J. Hodgson beat Miss V. Burnett 7-5; Miss A. Burnett lost ftv Miss Burton 4-7; Miss P. McConnelP beat Miss Thompson 7-6. Men's Singles: D. Boynton beat H. Max ted 9-1: D. Grover lost! toT. Black 9-0; B. Hughes beat T« Button 9-6: J. Perfect beat H. Garland 9-6; B. Burnett lost to R. Ball" 1-9; F. Collins beat L. Burton 9-7. Ladies' Doubles: Misses Hughestand Bell lost to Miss Smith and' Mrs Garland 5-7; Misses Addison and Hodgson lost to Misses V: Burnett and Burton 6-7; Misses A. Burnett and McConnell lost to Misses--Gillespie and Thompson 2-7. Men's Doubles: Boynton and Grow er beat Black and Maxted 9-3; Perfect and Hughes beat Button ami* Garland 0-6; Wardlaw and lost to Ball and Burton 7-9-. Combined Doubles; Boynton and Miss Hughes lost to Maxted and Miss Gillespie 8-9; Grover and Miss, Bell lost to Button and Miss Smith 5-9; Hughes and Miss Addison beat Garland and Mrs Garland 9J'7; Per* feet and Miss Hodgson lost to Black and Miss Thompson 4-9; Wardlaw and Miss A. Burnett, lost to Ball, and Miss V. Burnett 7-9; Collins and Miss McConnell beat BUrlort' and Miss Burton 9-7. The final result was: Opotiki 13 matches; Waimana 11.
